Who We Are

Besides running Sumptuous Events and Catering, Ted and Shannon Mahoney, along with their family, have owned the very popular Mahoney’s Atlantic Bar and Grill in Orleans for twenty years. They began Sumptuous Events and Catering in 2004.

Chef Ted Mahoney began his cooking career on Cape Cod in high school. He attended Norwich University, managed a kitchen in Vermont, and then came back to the Cape and worked in Provincetown at the iconic Lobster Pot for several years, before heading to Napa Valley to do his formal chef training at the Culinary Institute of America

Shannon Mahoney’s background in marketing, merchandising and design align beautifully with Ted’s culinary expertise. Together they cover all the bases of event planning. Shannon’s attention to detail and aesthetics coupled with Ted’s culinary expertise, bring your event to life. They love bringing together diverse elements to create one-of-a-kind-events. Their sweet spot is staging an event with visual impact, and manage to make it look effortless. Shannon and her staff create gracious presentations while making the mechanics invisible.

At Sumptuous Events and Catering we only do one event a day. Your wedding isn’t typical and neither are our events. We are a boutique catering company and love to work with clients who want people who want what we can provide. We work on developing the menu, and creatively tailoring each individual event.

We’ve seen over time that Sumptuous Events and Catering has evolved is that it’s more than a business name, it’s truly a product description.
